Dedicated to a true Canadian Hero. Terry Fox reminded Canadians that when you are passionate about making the world a better place, with hard work and the right support in your life, you can make those dreams come true no matter how many obstacles may come up...
The Terry Fox Poem
One day Terry Fox had a dream ro run across Canada from one ocean to the other it was called ‘The Marathon of Hope’
He ran with one leg to raise money for cancer research
he began this journey in St. John’s Newfoundland. on April 12, 1980 filling a container with sea water His dream -- to empty the bottle in the Pacific Ocean raising money on the way
In rain or sun from dawn to dusk he ran each step bringing him closer to his goal
on his way he gave speeches and was interviewed people came out to greet him wherever he went
But then one day in late summer near Thunder Bay, Ontario he began to cough everyone was saddened by the news the cancer had returned
he had run 3 339 miles in 143 days
After another long battle Terry Fox passed away on June 28, 1981
People all across Canada continue to run or walk for what Terry Fox dreamt all those years ago
Just remember anything is possible never give up hope just follow your dreams believe in yourself and you can achieve any goal you may have
